Undergoing a non-surgical fat removal procedure from the stomach is one of the fastest, most effective ways of achieving a flat tummy. However, losing the fat around your belly is one thing; keeping cellulite away and maintaining a flat stomach is another.
Regardless of the route you took to get rid of your belly fat, it is important that you maintain the results. The good news is that you don’t have to undergo a procedure repeatedly, spend endless hours at the gym, or starve yourself to keep your belly trim and cellulite-free. If you want to have a midsection that you can be proud of showing off all year round, follow the tips below:
1. Reduce your sodium intake
Salt is often the primary culprit when it comes to belly fat. This is because sodium causes your body to retain lots of water. This, in turn, leads to bloating of the tummy and weight gain.
If you want to keep your stomach flat, cut back on potato chips and other salty junk food. Stay away from products that may have hidden sodium content as well. These include pre-packaged soups, dressings, and sauces.
Additionally, try to reduce your use of soy sauce and other soy-based flavorings to enhance the taste of your food. Opt for natural herbs and spices instead.
And if you can avoid consuming salt altogether, that would be much better for your body and tummy.
2. Eat more slowly
One of the easiest things you can do to keep belly fat away is to slow down when eating.
If you are always hurried when you eat, there is a tendency to swallow more air. This could lead to poor digestion and bloating in your stomach.
As such, when eating, slow down and enjoy each mouthful. Concentrate on chewing your food properly and avoid gulping down every bite.
You can be more mindful of the way you chew by eating in front of the mirror. Consider using chopsticks as well since this will help you eat more slowly.
Another technique would be to put your fork or spoon down after each mouthful and prepare the next bite only when you have completely swallowed the last.
3. Eat more fiber-rich food
A diet low in fiber and fluids, coupled with little or no physical activity, can lead to constipation. This, in turn, can result in bloating.
When you start eating more fiber, you will help your digestive system function more effectively. This will minimize bloating and keep your tummy trim.
Additionally, fiber also helps make a person feel full longer. Once you start consuming more fiber-rich foods, you will find yourself eating less between and during meals. And this will help you keep off those unwanted pounds.
To increase your fiber intake, eat more whole grains, fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and seeds.
4. Drink more water
Another simple way of keeping a flat belly is to start drinking more water daily.
To further reduce bloating, drink more water. Drink at least two liters or half a gallon of water every day.
Additionally, by drinking a glass of water before eating, you can fill up the stomach and help with portion control during the meal.
If the taste of plain water is keeping you from drinking more of it, infuse it with citrus fruits, cucumber, berries, and mint leaves to add flavor.
5. Include cardio in your weekly routine
Many simple cardio or aerobic exercises are highly effective in trimming and strengthening your midsection. These include running, walking, and swimming.
Additionally, engaging in regular cardio exercises that will help you burn calories and improve your heart health.
Consider adding interval workouts to your routine as well such as HIIT or Tabata. These workout types provide the necessary intensity and rest periods that will help boost your fat burning potential and keep your tummy flat.
6. Get enough sleep
Lastly, studies show that women who get less than six hours of sleep at night are more likely to be affected by an increase in cortisol. A spike in this particular steroid hormone can result in the storage of belly fat. And this will prevent you from maintaining a flat tummy.
If you are having difficulty getting good quality sleep, start by meditating or doing relaxing stretches before going to bed. Avoid caffeine and alcohol before sleeping as well. Finally, keep electronics out of the bedroom or turn them off before sleeping.
Whatever weight loss program for women or men you choose to follow, make the results last and keep your tummy trim longer by following the tips above.
