Infant Massage Workshop

Thursday October 6th at 12pm @ myPractice Yoga

Come Join us Oct 6, 2011 @ 12 noon, for about 30-45min to learn the basics of Infant Massage.
This complementary Workshop was designed for parents and their infants. As therapists at Wellness for the Body we would like to teach you a few helpful tips to increase the already strong bond between parent and infant.
Infant Massage is not only for your baby, it is also good for you as a parent. The most intimate moments you have with your baby are through touch. Your baby knows your voice and your touch.
Your baby will receive many of the same benefits that you yourself do from your own massages. It promotes relaxation, gets the circulation moving, relieves constipation and usually causes many smiles!

Come join us! You will learn:

· What the benefits of infant massage are for your baby.

· When is the right time to give your baby an infant massage?

· The contraindications to infant massage.

· How to actually perform infant massage on your own baby.

September is Backpack Safety Month

Dr. Shima Shahidy, (Hon) B.Sc., DC
Chiropractor, Acupuncture & Graston Technique Provider

dr shima shahidyCome in for a complimentary backpack evaluation & posture check!

Many of our adult aches and pains are a result of our childhood posture, activities and injuries. Children and teens carry very heavy and often poorly used backpacks and large purses. This can affect their posture at a time of growth and cause a lifetime of unnecessary pain.

Over the course of this next month, I'll be writing about how to choose, pack and carry a bag or backpack. For now, I would like to invite you to come by our office for a backpack evaluation and posture check. This offer is not only for all parents with young children and teenagers going back to school but for those of you in university as well. I'll make suggestions that will help to prevent neck, back and shoulder pain. Just call the office to book a convenient time for your complimentary session.

Having been a student for a very long time, this is an issue near and dear to my heart as I remember walking for 30 minutes to and from school (uphill both ways of course) and feeling like my shoulders were going to come off. So I started scrutinizing backpacks and being far more choosey when I went shopping. No longer was colour the main concern - straps and compartments were now top of the list! I look forward to seeing you this month!

Please call us at 905.465.4595 for more information
and to book your appointment with Dr. Shima Shahidy.
